Owned and operated by the Government of India, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is a state-owned steel making company based in New Delhi, India. The public sector undertaking was incorporated on 24th January 1974 and is the 20th largest steel producer in the world and the 3rd largest in India. The organization owns 5 integrated steel plants at Bhilai, Rourkela, Durgapur, Bokaro and Burnpur (Asansol) and 3 special steel plants at Salem, Durgapur and Bhadravathi.

The SAIL Logo is an abstract mark in blue colour, which is followed by the name in Devanagari script (Hindi) and English. The symbol using the triangular form with an upward direction indicates growth and development of steel industry. The solid rhombus used enclosed within the triangle seems to agree with the fact that SAIL stands to infuse high level technical and managerial expertise.
