The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), also known as Crop Insurance Scheme, is an integrated IT solution and a web-based ecosystem to speed up service delivery, unify fragmented databases, achieve a single view of data, and eliminate manual processes. Crop Insurance portal has enabled the digitization of notification of areas, crops, schemes for enabling information access to multiple stakeholders, thereby facilitating ease of access to the farmers in availing crop insurance services.

The scheme aims to provide insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crops as a result of natural calamities, pests, and diseases; stabilize the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming; encourage farmers to adopt innovative and modern agricultural practices, and ensure flow of credit to the agriculture sector.

The Logo of PMFBY has two hands like structures enclosing the crop within, which is a depiction of the sole motto of the scheme i.e., to insure crops. The crop has been shown in the shade of green whereas the hands are in gradients of brown and yellow.
