National Informatics Centre (NIC) is the premier science and technology organisation of the Government of India in Informatics Services and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) applications. Established in 1976, NIC is a part of the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The NIC logo is Blue in colour, which represents professionalism, trust, loyalty, confidence, productivity, wisdom, intelligence, strength, stability, peace, calmness and perseverance. The bilingual form i.e., both Hindi and English languages are used to help common masses find an instant connection with the organisation, for it provides them with services for their convenience to seek benefits from various schemes or programmes. Seven horizontal lines running across the Logo suggest a positive move towards expansion or setting new horizons or dimensions, thereby symbolising progress and development at every step in technology and communications.
