Founded on 1st September 1956, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is an Indian state-owned insurance group and investment corporation. It was founded when the Parliament of India passed the Life Insurance of India Act that nationalised the insurance industry in India.

Few of its objectives are to Maximize mobilization of people’s savings by making insurance-linked savings adequately attractive; Act as trustees of the insured public in their individual and collective capacities; and Conduct business with utmost economy and with the full realization that the moneys belong to the policyholders.

LIC Logo is made up of a flame that signifies life and the protective hands of life insurance that ensure its continuance. The typeface is written both in Devanagari script (Hindi) and English.
