Named after Late Smt. Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a Central University established in 1985 and is located in New Delhi. Operated by the Central Government of India, the university aims to provide open and distance education as well as quality higher education opportunities to all segments of the society. The university has total active enrollment of over 4 million students.

The Logo is blue in colour and shows the combination of Hindi alphabets i.e., इ & ग्, which are wrapped by the English alphabet O. This is further surrounded by the alphabet U from the bottom, thereby using letters of the acronym IGNOU. The Logo also mentions acronym at the right side, which is followed by the tagline in capital letters, “THE PEOPLE’S UNIVERSITY”.
