Founded on 1st April, 1995, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. AAI is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India. The organization is managing 137 airports, which include 23 International Airports (including 3 International Civil Enclaves), 10 Customs Airports (including 4 Customs Civil Enclaves), 81 Domestic Airports and 23 Domestic Civil Enclaves at Defense Airfields.

It also provides Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over the entire Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas with ground installations at all the Airports and 25 other locations, which ensures safety of aircraft operations.

The AAI Logo depicts a flyby and aircraft, followed by the expanded forms of AAI in Devanagari script as well as English.
