Formed under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and aided by the Central Government of India, the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) is an autonomous institute established in 1960 and is located at the premises of the erstwhile Prabhat Film Company in Pune. FTII has been the country’s premier film and television institute that has given a number of actors, directors, and technicians to the film and television industry.
The institute is also a member of the International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television (CILECT), which is an organisation of the world’s leading schools of film and television.
The FTII Logo shows a combination of letters F and T, along with the Hindi alphabet फ.
